Sierra Leone is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) — 4 or 5 hours ahead of New York (depending on Daylight Savings) and 1 hour behind Paris. There are no direct flights from the US; most travelers connect through Brussels (Brussels Airlines, ~7 hours) or through Accra or Casablanca. From the UK, seasonal service is available via London Gatwick. 

Freetown's Lungi International Airport is across the Sierra Leone River from the city — plan for a 30-minute water taxi or ferry on arrival. Our Newton neighborhood sits just outside Freetown with easy access to the capital. The climate is tropical, averaging 27°C (80°F) year-round. The dry season runs from November through April — the best window for site visits.  The rainy season (May–October) is one of the wettest in West Africa, so plan accordingly. 

The local currency is the Sierra Leonean leone (SLL). Transactions with Jobomax are conducted in US dollars.
